| Columbus, Ohio – The Central Illinois Collegiate League (CICL) officially announced today that Hannibal Sports and Entertainment had been admitted to the league to begin play in the summer of 2009 in Hannibal, Missouri.
“We are delighted to have Bob Hemond and the rest of his partners join the league. The prospect of a new CICL team in Hannibal is exciting for the league and all of our teams. We expect the Hannibal team to make an immediate impact in terms of on the field play, fan interest and what we expect to be intense rivalries with many of our current teams,” said CICL Commissioner Frank Pergolizzi. HSE was co-founded by Hemond and Larry Owens to bring summer collegiate baseball to Hannibal and historic Clemens Field. “Our organization is thrilled to be admitted into the CICL,” said Bob Hemond. “Our goal back when we started was to join a league as prestigious as the CICL and renovate a historical ballpark,” Hemond added. “We look forward to throwing out that first CICL pitch in newly renovated Clemens Field next summer.” The Hannibal baseball group will spend the 2008 season renovating Clemens Field and making preparations for play in 2009. Ground breaking for Clemens Field is scheduled for early June 2008. For additional information contact CICL Commissioner Frank Pergolizzi at (614) 339-1163 or Bob Hemond at (573) 221-1010. |
